Most pillows today are made from synthetic foams and polyester fibers that can off gas, wear out quickly, and spend decades sitting in a landfill once they are thrown away.

Our Pint Size Wool Pillow is different.

Each pillow is made from the wool of sheep raised here on our farm and carefully handcrafted. Wool is naturally breathable and moisture regulating, helping create a comfortable place to rest whether you are using it on the couch, in the car, or for a quick afternoon nap.

Wool also naturally resists dust mites and bacteria, creating a cleaner and more comfortable pillow without synthetic materials or chemical treatments.

The pint size pillow measures about 12 x 18 inches, making it perfect for children, travel, reading on the couch, or keeping close by for those moments when you just need a little extra comfort. Each pillow is sewn closed and comes with a soft cotton or flannel casing, available in six different colors.

And because this pillow is made entirely from natural wool and cotton, it has one more job after many years of use. When the pillow has finally reached the end of its life, it can be returned to the garden.

How to plant your retired pillow

Choose a garden bed or planting area with good drainage. Dig a hole about 6 inches deep. Place the pillow into the hole and cover it completely with soil. Plant seeds or transplants directly above the spot. Pumpkins, squash, tomatoes, flowers, and other heavy-feeding plants especially enjoy the nutrients.

As the wool slowly breaks down, it releases nutrients and helps hold moisture in the soil. Plant roots grow down into the fibers and benefit from this natural slow-release fertilizer.

It’s a simple idea we believe in here on the farm: Products made from the earth should one day be able to return to the earth.
