What is Farm Star Living?
Farm Star Living is a national website that showcases the farm-to-everything movement. This includes farmer profiles, a farm-to-table dining guide, food and recipes, a farm finder (a.k.a farm fun), videos, blogs, and more. We aim to bridge the gap between the general public and the world of farming while supporting a healthy way of life.
What inspired you to create this wonderful online community?
I took over my family farm that borders Arkansas and Louisiana and was immersed in a world that was both challenging and inspiring. I connected to the passion that farmers have for doing this very difficult and often unnoticed work, and I felt more and more strongly that the general public needed to understand and appreciate this world. I feel that farming touches our lives in so many ways, and perhaps I could showcase ways how easy it could be for us all to support farmers just by making more conscious daily life choices. By buying more farm fresh food, visiting a farm, getting to know who’s behind your food, or dining out at a farm to table restaurant we are all supporting a farm lifestyle – one that we call Farm Star Living!
Your mission seems to be connecting consumers with their local farmers produce and agritourism. What tools do you offer to help people connect with their local farmers today?
Rather than say connect to, I feel it’s that I help them relate to farmers. We help tell the story of farmers, so that more people can understand, as well as appreciate, the people behind their food. In terms of agritourism, we support it across the USA, although we simply call it Farm Fun! We showcase farms that are open to the public in every state – it’s a free service for the farms, and we also categorize their offerings and activities in a Farm Fun Finder so that people everywhere can easily find a fun outing at a farm near them.
Do you have any exciting plans for the future of Farm Star Living?
Always! My business is growing and evolving, as my team and I continue to reach and connect with more people across the country. We are consistently striving to implement more relevant and exciting content, and we are now creating videos, recipes, and even showcasing farm fresh cocktails! Our dining guide aka the Farm to Table Finder is the most comprehensive farm to table dining guide in the US, and we are constantly adding more cities, new restaurants there, as well as profile more and more Farm Stars! We even have a free Farm Star Living App that’s quite interactive to find these restaurants and farms near you as well!
